Seattle: Chihuly Garden and Glass

Here it is…the last post about our Seattle trip! 🙂 In case you missed it, I posted about exploring in Seattle, wandering around the town of Winslowthe Seattle Art Museum and the Ferry, Lake Crescent, hiking and a waterfall, Hurricane Ridge, and our Seattle duck tour.

After we wrapped up our duck tour on Sunday, we went to Chihuly Garden and Glass. Dale Chihuly is a world-famous glassblower and right under the Space Needle he has over an acre of indoor and outdoor exhibition space. Everything that we did on our trip was great but if I had the chance to do one part over again, it would be this. As we walked by the Space Needle we could see the tops of some of the sculptures peeking over the fence, but nothing prepared us for what we would see.

Inside, we wandered through room after room of Chihuly’s work – each room with a different theme or feel, but all incredible. The first hallway held the “Glass Forest” –

Then we found ourselves in a large room filled with pieces influenced by Native American art –

The next room had an ocean theme –

Then we made our way into an empty room that had a ceiling covered with stunning blown glass of different shapes and colors –

The next space was like something out of a magical other land –

They even had a photographer in this room that took our picture!

Next came the chandelier room. Wow!

After seeing all of these indoor exhibits, we went out to the “glasshouse” which houses a huge flowering vine installation. The pictures don’t do this justice – it was breathtaking! I had to tear myself away…

Next, there was a chandelier walkway going outside into the spectacular garden –

After we finished at Chihuly, we ate dinner at the restaurant at the top of the Space Needle – Skycity Restaurant. The entire restaurant rotates, so we got an amazing view of the city!

That wraps up our trip! We flew back to NC on Monday thankful for the amazing experiences that we got to have! 🙂

Thanks for bearing with all of the Seattle posts! I have some projects I’m planning on doing this week so hopefully I’ll have some fun DIY posts really soon!
