Early Friday afternoon we arrived on Bainbridge Island and we started heading towards Lake Crescent in the foothills of the Olympic Mountains. In researching, Matt had found Lake Crescent Lodge, and we booked a room for Friday night based on their website (and pictures!), TripAdvisor.com, and the recommendation of a friend.
The drive was about 3 hours and it was so much fun to drive through a new place with Matt. We enjoyed the scenery, talked, laughed, and listened to music. We had been told that Sequim (pronounced like “squid” but with an “m”) would have plenty of places to get lunch, so once we got close I started reading restaurant reviews to Matt from my iPhone. When we read about Jeremiah’s BBQ, we were sure we had a winner and it did not disappoint! Down to the sweet tea, it was like something straight from the South and it hit the spot! Yummy! 🙂
As we started getting close to Lake Crescent, we started marveling at the mountains and lakes that we saw. But the spot where the Lodge sits is definitely the most amazing that we saw!
After we checked in and dropped our bags off in our room, we set out for a walk/hike before dinner. As soon as we started walking from our building towards the lake, we saw a group of deer!
While I was taking the pictures above, Matt disappeared. When I realized it, I started looking around thinking “I can’t believe he’s messing this!” I finally found him… about 3 feet from the deer at the edge of the water! Yeah, his iPhone pictures from that close top all of these…
we I got over the excitement of seeing the deer so close, we walked to the “Moments in Time” trail, which was a flat trail about a mile or so long that snaked through the woods. Since we did a similar hike on Saturday morning, I’m just going to show the pictures from both hikes together in the next post.
After our walk through the woods, we wandered around the edge of the lake and soaked in the beautiful lake and mountains.
After our wanderings outside, we got cleaned up and dinner in the restaurant in the lodge. It was delicious! After a long couple of days, we slept really well and were up early the next morning ready for another day of adventures!
