5 Things I Learned in May

Hi y’all! :-)

I know that I’ve been MIA for a while but I’m doing the best I can over here. I should have some good posts coming up about redoing our kitchen and flooring. I try to share five highlights from the week on Fridays, but like in March and April, I’ll be sharing what I learned this month and linking up with Emily at Chatting at the Sky. So without further ado, here are five things that I learned this month …

ONE. Paint makes a huge difference.

After we painted our cabinets, I went ahead and painted the walls green even though I know it’ll need a lot of touch-up after the counters are replaced. I was pleasantly surprised by what a huge difference it made!

TWO. Trim should be white

As we get ready to have redo our floors (which includes redoing the baseboards), I’ve decided to take on the rather large project of repainting all of our trim. For some reason when I first bought the condo, I decided to paint all of the trim an off-white color, and now I regret that decision. I think that trim looks much better when it’s a bright white! So far, only a few spots have been repainted, but I love the change so far.

THREE.  I can actually win a game of Monopoly.

After dozens of games played and lost as a kid, I actually won when I played with my husband and siblings last Saturday! I couldn’t believe it, but after a couple of hours, I was the last one standing. My Boardwalk and Park Place monopoly did help 😉

FOUR. I miss my family more after I’ve been able to see them.

Matt and I got to spend Memorial Day weekend with my family down in Florida and it was wonderful but it’s made it harder to be so far away from them!

FIVE. Love languages can change.

When we were in FL, we all agreed to take the test from The Five Love Langauges to figure out what our love languages are. Mine have changed since the last time I took it, which I think was when Matt and I were doing premarital counseling. It was so interesting to hear the results from the rest of my family members! Have any of you ever taken it? It looks like you can take it online here.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! We’ll be working hard to get the house ready for my sister and brother-in-law to come up next weekend to help us redo the floors. (Really, we’ll be helping them ;))

Love your kitchen progress.. it looks great! It’s amazing what paint can do to transform a look… and now I want to transform a few things around here.. haha! Maybe this summer! 😉

Great list! We repainted our kitchen two summers ago and even though it was a lot more work than I expected I was really pleased with the results once it was done.Congrats on the Monopoly win. It must have been an awesome feeling to finally win that game. Some days I can do nothing wrong and others I can’t do anything right when it comes to the game. Seeing family is awesome but you are right when you say you miss them more right after they leave. I only see mine every couple of years since they all live in Australia so I can very much relate to that.
